Preparing the Lumber

After milling, the beams need to be dried. Commercially this is done in kilns, although the best and gentlest way to dry your lumber is on the air. One can count on a drying rate of one inch per year - you do the math!

I stickered the my beams on 3/4 inch thick sticks and covered the stacks with corrugated plastic roofing.
